Because of the current uncertainty in the travel industry, and to establish a process that is fair to all members, we are introducing changes to the sign up process, especially for our Europe trip.
For the ever popular Sun Peaks trip - where there truly is lots of terrain suitable for every level - the only change is that we are asking each applicant to pay the $20 fee for the Social Event directly to Legends (an e-transfer to skilegendsmembership@gmail.com). One of the mandates of Legends is to meet and ski with fellow members, so this fee will be used by the trip leader to arrange for a “meet and greet” on the trip. In the past, this fee has been collected by the tour operator and added to the cost of the trip. The application deadline for Sun Peaks is September 15, 2026, or earlier when all space is sold out.
Next year’s Europe trip, back by popular demand, will be to the Dolomites! There’s no question that our trip in 2024 was a huge success and many of those participants are hoping to return, along with others who have heard about it and want to join in the fun! Our home base will be close to where we were in 2024, just one town away in Santa Cristina. Still only one lift away from the Sellaronda circuit linking many historic Italian ski towns in the area.
Given the current global uncertainty, it isn’t a surprise that trip costs have increased and there is the possibility that fuel costs may continue to rise, affecting airline fees. In order to secure hotel space at the Alpenhotel Plaza, Santa Cristina, we agreed to pay the deposit for the rooms in early June. This means that the application deadline is June 1. In addition, we must have at least 20 members to offer the group rate. As an executive, we thought this might cause issues if some people booked and paid but not enough for the group rate - which would increase the cost unexpectedly for those still hoping to go.
In order to get an accurate count on how many are truly committed to this trip, the Legends executive is implementing a 2 stage payment for the $1500 deposit:
● When you complete your online application,you must also e-transfer a $500 Registration Fee to Legends at skilegendsmembership@gmail.com. As long as the trip runs, this payment is non-refundable.
● Assuming we get the required number of 20 members signing up, we will declare the trip a “go” and send your applications and registration fees to Merit Travel. They will then invoice you for the remaining $1000 of the deposit.
● However, if we do not get at least 20 members signing up by June 1, we will cancel the trip and the $500 registration fee will be refunded.
